The Simpsons is an animated sitcom created by Matt Groening that focuses on the middle class life of a family living in a fictional Springfield, taking place in a world where white skin is yellow.

Since it spun off into its own series in 1989, following a series of shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show since 1987, it has become the longest running American sitcom and animated series, with 25 seasons as of May 2014, spawning video games, comic books, a feature film and more. It has been hailed one of the greatest television series of all time, mainly counting its earlier seasons.
