The Simpsons is an animated sitcom created by Matt Groening that focuses on the middle class life of a family living in the fictional town of Springfield.
Since it spun off into its own series in 1989, following a series of shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show since 1987, it has become the longest running American sitcom and animated series, with 29 seasons as of May 2018, spawning video games, comic books, a feature film and more.
