Super Mario World is a 1990 Nintendo game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was later re-released as Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World, where the only change was giving Luigi his own set of sprites (he was originally a palette swap of Mario). Super Mario World received an updated port on the Game Boy Advance, called Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, which added more content.

This game introduces the Power Balloon (a.k.a the P-Balloon), which can cause Mario or Luigi to inflate and float around in any direction for a limited amount of time. The P-Balloon can be found in World 2's Donut Secret 1 and Donut Secret 2, World 5's Forest of Illusion 1, and the Special World's Tubular.

Balloon Mario was later seen in Super Mario 64 DS and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.

  • Any form of Mario or Luigi (Small, Super, Fire, Cape) can grab a P-Balloon, even while using a Super Star. However, if Mario or Luigi grabs another power-up while under the effects of a P-Balloon, they will lose the P-Balloon power-up.
