Little Witch Academia is a Japanese anime franchise produced by Trigger Inc. It premiered in the form of a short film on March 2, 2013. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, a second short film called Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade was released. Most recently, the franchise earned a television anime series which has been airing since January 9, 2017. Two manga adaptations have been published by Shueisha.
The story follows a girl called Akko Kagari who has enrolled at Luna Nova Magical Academy to become a witch. Unlike her peers, Akko struggles because she lacks a background in magic. This changes when Akko discovers an artifact called the Shiny Rod, famously used by a legendary witch called Shiny Chariot. Akko looks up to Shiny Chariot and uses the Shiny Rod throughout the series to prove her worth.
Little Witch Academia (Short Film)
Shiny Chariot confronts a dragon. She transforms the Shiny Rod into a bow and fires an arrow into the dragon's mouth. It swells up and explodes into fireworks.
Later, Akko and co. encounter an Ancient Dragon during a dungeon-crawling class. They attack the dragon but every time it contacts magic, it grows larger.
After it has grown to massive size, Akko realizes she must use the Shiny Rod to defeat it. She fires an arrow into the dragon's mouth and it bursts like seen before.
